The REDEEM Act of 2023 shortens the time deadline to get your record expunged

The REDEEM Act of 2023 took effect in Maryland on October 1, 2023, which is huge news for people that want to get their criminal record expunged. It reduced the waiting period for misdemeanors from ten to five years to get your criminal record expunged. Those convicted of non-violent felonies now only have to wait seven years. The previous waiting periods were as long as 15 years.

It also expanded the number of criminal convictions that can now be expunged. For example, convictions for malicious destruction of property can now be expunged. This is important because criminal convictions can affect your ability to get a job or rent an apartment.

If you have criminal convictions on your record, contact us to see whether you are eligible for expungement. We are happy to help.
