How to Get Your License Reinstated

Here is what you can do to get your license reinstated

There are many people driving without a valid license. They may need to get to work or school so they drive anyway willing to take the risk of being stopped. Unfortunately, something usually eventually happens and they face charges like driving without a license, driving on a suspended license, or driving on a revoked license all of which carry points and possible jail time.

The truth is that many of these situations can be avoided. Most people do not realize that if your license is suspended, credit for the suspension does not begin until you turn in your license. Thus, the suspension continues indefinitely in many cases because the individual fails to turn in his or her license.

Other people fail to get their license reinstated. If your license is suspended for 30 days, it does not automatically become valid. You must go to the Motor Vehicle Administration and get it reinstated after the 30 days have expired.

If your license was suspended for a DUI for a long period of time, you can elect the ignition interlock in most cases and get your license back. You simply need to contact the MVA and they will tell you what to do.

Many people do not realize that an attorney can always determine the issue with your license. You can download a complete certified copy of your driving record and bring it to a lawyer. They can tell you the nature of the issue and what you can do to resolve it.

If you do not have a license, take steps to get one. Take the written test and then whatever procedures are necessary to take the driving test. Do not wait until you receive a traffic citation that carries possible incarceration.

If you receive a suspension letter in the mail, contact a lawyer. You have a short timeframe to file for an MVA hearing. In many cases, an attorney can prevent the suspension of your license.
