Vehicle Cameras

Vehicle cameras can provide valuable evidence

More people are installing cameras on their cars. It is a good idea. Many times liability is disputed when an accident occurs. If there are no witnesses, it becomes a "he said, she said" case which is difficult to win.

I had a case where my client was stopped when an accident occurred involving two other vehicles. One of the vehicles was forced into my client's car. One driver claimed he had the green light while going straight. The other driver claimed he had a green arrow when turning left. My client did not know which driver had the right-of-way and there were no witnesses.

Fortunately, one of the drivers had a camera on his vehicle. The video established that he had a green arrow and the other driver had a red light. The case eventually settled.

Video cameras can also be important if you receive a traffic ticket. If a police officer cites you for failing to stop at a stop sign, the video will show whether you stopped.

The technology has gotten cheaper so that it is economical to have a camera installed. It is probably a good idea to do so.
